Do Not Fear Mockery
We live in an era where holding firmly on to our uncompromised Islamic beliefs may expose us to being mocked by others. No one likes to be mocked; thus, many of us fear making known our beliefs, so we shy away from discussing those aspects of our faith which may draw the “wrath of mockery” upon us. Alternatively, we seek to compromise our beliefs and even go as far as joining the mocking party.
However, if being mocked is what it must take to be principled, so be it. Do not have any shame. You are no better than the greatest man who ever lived, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him_. Like the Messengers before him, he was mocked by ignorant people as well. Yet, Allah comforts the Prophet (peace be upon him) in a manner which we should equally draw comfort from as well:
وَلَقَدِ ٱسۡتُهۡزِئَ بِرُسُلٖ مِّن قَبۡلِكَ فَحَاقَ بِٱلَّذِينَ سَخِرُواْ مِنۡهُم مَّا كَانُواْ بِهِۦ يَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ
And already were messengers ridiculed before you, but those who mocked them were enveloped by that which they used to ridicule. [6:10]
