Some people who have a weak grasp of Islamic theology say ignorant things such as "Forget aqeedah, just worry about the six articles of Iman."
Keeping aside the fact that aqeedah could influence how you believe in some of these six articles of Iman, these people fail to realize that aqeedah is much broader than these six articles.
We must have the right aqeedah about the Jinn.
We must have the right aqeedah about what we believe about the Sahabah. This is a huge area of contention with the Shia!
We must have the right aqeedah about saints and karamat.
We must have the right aqeedah about the Imamah (yes, it is not only a fiqhi matter).
And so on.
So aqeedah is much broader than the six articles of Iman, and it is an important science.
Only someone weak in or dispassionate about aqeedah will tell you otherwise. Ignore these people regardless of who they are; they are wrong, and there is no room for even entertaining their baseless and unprecedented opinion.
I would think these people are saying, "forget the dhanni/non-agreed-upon aspects of aqeedah, focus on Iman". Or at least, that's what I imagine the strongest version of this sentiment to be (which I would agree with).
