Four Ways on How to Not Be Impressed With Your Good Deeds

𝟏. 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐡’𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Remember that Allah is so infinitely perfect beyond our imagination that no matter what we do, we cannot justly revere Him in the manner His Glory demands.

𝟐. 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝: The rewards of paradise are so immensely great that the good deeds we do in this life are not truly worthy of attaining them in return.

𝟑. 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐡’𝐬 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐮𝐩𝐨𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮: The immense blessings Allah has already bestowed upon us, such as our sight, hearing, our very own existence, etc., already outweigh whatever good deeds we are performing.

𝟒. 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐡’𝐬 𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞: Us doing good deeds is not purely out of our own volition, but with Allah’s divine aid and guidance. So let us not get too haughty, thinking highly of our ‘achievements’.
