The Correlation between Bad Theology and Politics

You can deduce a person’s politics by knowing his theology.

Does he water down the importance of walaa’ wa baraa’?

Does he have a defeatist conceptualization of qadar?

Does he have a distorted understanding of tawakkul in Allah?

Does he truly appreciate Allah’s supreme role as Legislator?

etc.

Deviations in such theological doctrines will reflect in one’s politics; that is why we see extreme political stances adopted by Muslims such as apathetic quietism, fatalism, anarchism, and realpolitik. An overlooked cause of the adoption of these problematic stances is the embracing of distorted aqeedah stances.

Having sound basic aqeedah is much more practically important than some try to portray it.
