The Good Life
Whoever does good, whether male or female, and is a believer, We will surely bless them with 𝐚 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞, and We will certainly reward them according to the best of their deeds.[16:97]
Bringing together several of the opinions of the commentators on this passage, we can define the “good life” as being content with the halal provisions which Allah has written for us.
The ayah is not promising us that we will become millionaires if we do righteous deeds out of Iman in Allah; rather, it promises us contentment. Happiness is the end goal every human being strives for; the difference is that we disagree over how to attain that inner satisfaction.
Do not strive for the dunya; strive for happiness.
