Some Muslims feel insecure about the strength of Islam’s evidence for itself and its moral superiority because there exist way too many ‘intelligent’ and ‘good’ people who reject it.
However, look around you....
We have ‘intelligent’ flat-earthers.
We have ‘intelligent’ folks who still deny God’s existence.
We have ‘good’ and ‘moral’ folks who support brutal foreign policies, Zionism, racial discrimination, etc.
Now ask yourself something, are you going to deny the strength of the evidence and moral clarity surrounding these aforementioned issues merely because so many ‘intelligent’ people dispute them? I am pretty sure most of you would answer in the negative.
Similarly, when it comes to Islam, what matters is what you believe. Do you believe that the evidence is strong? Do not worry about other people now. What do you think? If you think it is strong, then that is enough for you. Worry about what you think.
We frequently read in the Qur’an that disbelievers are not soundly using their reason. This is not because they do not have high IQs, but rather because they let their personal desires overcome their reason when it comes to these extremely important spiritual life-transforming decisions. I elaborate more on this point in relevant sections here.
Assalaamu alaykum. For most people, belief is not a function of the rational mind. According to psychology, "social safety" is the biggest driver of human behavior. People do what their "tribe" finds acceptable, lest they need to fend for themselves. The quran confirms this, saying that most people just believe what their forefathers did. Also, why zakat can be used to support new Muslims, as they have given up the protection and financial safety of their tribe of origin.
Another point is that most intelligent people simply don't spend their mental faculties on these issues. Someone can be a genius-level chemist, but when it comes to discussion about God, their repertoire is very immature. It's not because intelligence is of "types" (current psych research debunked this), but simply because they don't think about these things like they might think about chemistry.
